    1. Hi Terry! Thanks for stopping by. The cuff measures 16 3/4″ x 6 1/4″. The cuff lining measures 16 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.

        1. Hi there,

Thank you for stopping by! I’m so glad to hear that you’d like to buy something I made. Unfortunately, I’m not selling any handmades at the moment.

      1. Hi Zune, I did sign up and received the confirmation email…I clicked the link on the email but I still cannot download the pattern to print it out,.. any suggestions?

        1. Hi Chris,

Are you downloading and printing from a computer? Some users try to download and print from a smart phone or tablet, which will not work as most are not optimized for all file types. I highly recommend using a computer for the pattern.

  1. I am sorry, I had not confirmed my subscription. After I did, it worked like a charm!
Thank you! I was thinking of my quilting group making these. Other sizes would be great too!

    1. I’m so glad to hear that! I would love to see how they turn out. And yes! I will be making these in some youth and adult sizes. I usually post my progress work on my Facebook so please keep checking!

  2. I found your site quite by accident, but I want to thank you for your toddler fleece hat pattern. I can see my little great grand daughter in one. I don’t get out much because of my health, but love to sew and quilt. Thank you again.

    1. Thank you so much for the lovely comment Lyn! I don’t like to go out much either when I have a bad flareup – I usually just draft patterns or sew quietly so I completely understand. I will be posting an adult’s fleece hat with ear flaps as part of my therapeutic sewing projects so please keep checking. I wish you good health!

  3. I printed your Kid’s Pants pattern which printed fine, but when I print the Reversible Toddler Fleece Hat, the right side of the page is cut off. Are these supposed to printed on paper larger than 8.5 x 11″ ?

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, more kids and womens patterns to come. I’m also planning to do some give aways so keep checking back. 🙂

  4. Thanks for taking the time to show this. If you were to want the pants windproof as well as warm, you could choose a performance fabric such as Polartec Windpro or Polartec Power Shield and possibly reduce the thickness while achieving at least the same warmth. Often wind is what contributes to the chill factor. I’ve made super warm wind and water repellent pants layering Power Shield with lightweight Power Wool, so it’s high performance layering with fantastic results. Of course these fabrics are more expensive than store bought fleece, but they last for years and can be handed down to siblings…and I often can just use scraps left from my own outerwear sewing.

    1. What a great idea! Thank you for sharing it. I will add it to the post, idea credit to you of course, so that others can try it too.

  5. Hi, I really love this hat and want to make one for my daughter tonight. I don’t have any fleece unfortunately but I do have some lovely Jersey knit and some sherpa and a fluffy soft fabric. Could I use the Jersey as the outer and one of the others to line it?

    1. Hi Holly thanks for stopping by! Yes, you can definitely use a Jersey knit with sherpa but just keep in mind the thickness of the sherpa because it will add to the thickness of the hat and may make it seem a bit snug to wear. Someone also made this hat with sherpa, you can see her version under Visitor Posts on Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook before you cut out the fabric to get an idea.

  6. Hi Zune, thank you for a great tutorial, I found the bit about the bands particularly clear & helpful. I was wondering how stretchy the main fabric needs to be?

    1. Hi Liz! Do you mean the stretchiness of the fabric used as a neckband? There are a lot of information out there on how to calculate the percentage of that but it can get confusing so I always go by the design of what I’m making. For example, if I’m making something form fitting with a tight neckline both the self fabric and the neckband fabric will have to have almost the same amount of stretch and recovery so that the garment’s neck will fit comfortably over the head. I hope that made sense – I will be making a tutorial as well as a more indepth video just on neckbands and hopefully that will explain better.

    1. This giveaway is open to readers from everywhere. 🙂 I hear ya! I like to have lots of spare needles around – I hate the idea of having to run to the store to get a needle if I break one in the middle of a project. Ugh!

  7. Hello
    > The pattern is ” Kids Pants with Free PDF Pattern”
    > Q1: Would you please tell me if these pants can be used as pajamas or are
    > they just regular pants?
    > Q2: What other fabrics can be used besides flannel ? Cotton?
    > Cotton/Blend? Demin?
    > Q3: When do you think you will have a ruffles tutorial to add to the
    > pants?
    > Thank you Beaa

    1. Hi Beaa,
Thank you for the terrific questions! I’ll try and answer as best as I can:

1 – I use this pants pattern to make lounge pants, regular pants for outings, and have cropped them to make shorts for summer. They can be used as pajamas too just be sure to check the fiber content of the fabric you will be using to make the sleepwear and that they are FLAME RETARDANT. Here are some useful links if you’d like to find out more – Washington Post and CPSC.gov
      2. You can use any type of fabric to make the pants – I’ve used flannel, linen, quilting cotton, denim, sweatershirt fleece, and also sweater knit fabrics. Just use different weight fabrics suitable for the weather. In this tutorial – Fleece-Lined Pants with Free Pattern– I doubled the pants for our cold Christmas outings. One reader suggested using a windproof performance fabric as the outer layer for some serious warmth!

      3. I plan my free patterns and tutorials based on trends and seasons but I keep it flexible so that I can add requests from my readers. Ruffle pants tutorial will be coming in March after the Clone Your Favorite T-shirt tutorial. If you have any more requests, please let me know. I’m always looking for exciting new projects to make and share!

      Happy sewing!

        1. Hi Neicee,

Thank you for joining my creative journey!

Did you receive a confirmation email after subscribing? Please check both your inbox and junk folder.

    1. Hi Jessica,

You can also baste the neckband to the neckline with a wide zig zag stitch so you can try it on and see. It’ll be easier to seam rip too if you want to take it in some more.

Please let me know how it goes and you can always share your pictures on the blog’s Facebook if you need any help or just want to show off your work. 😀

      Happy sewing!

      Zune

  8. This doesn’t link to a printable pattern. I entered my email to sign up but it redirects me back to your main page. This happens with your other patterns, too. How can I get a printable version of the pattern?

        1. Hi Linda,

This pattern is currently available to pattern testers. You will get a free pattern in your choice of size which you will have 3 weeks to make. Please let me know if you’re interested and I can email you more info.

          Zune

  9. I need size 16 please! Although I m a little confused, my full bust measure 40 inches , so I m hoping 16 is the correct size!

  10. I requested the wrong size in my previous post. Please send me a size 8. Thank you so much for this pretty pattern ❤❤❤

    1. Hi Glenda,

      Got it! 🙂
Today I’m sending out request confirmations and everyone who has confirmed should be getting the pattern by Tuesday.

      Zune

    1. Good day – I’m used to picking a size based off body measurements, not finished measurements. I see no mention of how much wearing ease you have built into your pattern? My Full Bust measurement is 38,6inches, so I’m hoping that a size 16 would be the correct size?

      1. Thanks for your reply on the main Facebook thread, Zune. Given your response, I realised I completely misunderstood the measurement reqd. My underbust is only 37 inches (vs full but if 38.6) & therefore given your answer & info regarding ease, it looks like I should have rather asked for a size 12, please… not a size 16 (which makes more sense since I’m usually a 12 it 14 in most patterns) 😊

        1. Do you mean upper bust or actually your under bust measurement is 37″?

I’ve sent a request confirmation email to you.

  11. size 20 please and I really like the floral print fabric organic monaluna cotton, thx for sharing all these beautiful patterns xxxx

    1. I don’t know if pictures can be posted in the comments like you said. I used the pattern and made mine. Really handy. I made a few changes given my fabric colour. But for the most part I followed your tutorial.

      1. Hi Camila,

You can share the images on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook page. You can also see how others have changed up my simple patterns by adding their own style. I love seeing all the beautiful creations!

  12. Hello Zune,

Thankyou for your kindness in sharing this pattern. Could you please forward a size 20 pattern for me.
    Kind Regards
    Nicole

  13. Zune,
I love this pattern, it looks sew comfortable !!I would need a size 20 please and I will purchase the Black Bamboo Jersey – 100% Organic and send you a picture when I get it done .
Thank you sew much , Have a funtastic day 🙂

    1. Hi Robin,
Excellent choice! I’d love to your finished project pictures. I’ve sent you a request confirmation email.

  14. Hi Zune, I’d be a size 18 please and I’d choose the Natural White or White Bamboo Jersey from The Sewing Retreat

        1. Hi Natasha,

Are you having problems downloading and printing the pattern? I just checked and the pattern file is there. Are you viewing/printing from a computer and not a smartphone or tablet?

    1. Hi Ruth,
I’m needing testers in sizes 10 ~ 20. Please let me know what size you’d like to be doing.
I’ll be sending out forms to anyone who is interested by Tuesday. Please check both your inbox and junk folders.
      Zune

    1. Hi Shirley,

The testing period for it is over but the pattern is available here

Also, be sure to follow Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook for sale updates and pattern testing calls.

      Zune

  15. Hi, I’m wondering if you could help me with this but I can’t get the free pattern no matter how many times I have pressed the here prompt. I’m subscribed yet that doesn’t seem to make a difference.. could you please help me? Really looking forward to making these for my granddaughter BBY, thanks!😁

    1. Hi Virginia,

Did you receive a confirmation email? Please check both your inbox and junk folder. Also, be sure to mark zune@zunessewingtherapy.com as a safe sender.

If you’ve done the confirmation and etc., print the pattern from a laptop or computer.

      Happy Sewing! 🙂

      Zune

  16. I am also having difficulty with finding a free pattern, I have signed up to receive emails but didn’t receive a welcome email, checked my junk folder too.

      1. Hi I’ve signed up for the free pattern and got the confirmation email. Placed all my details but it just keeps redirecting me to the homepage. How do I get the pattern? Thanks

        1. Welcome and thank you for subscribing! 🙂

You need to have the pop up disabled on your browser in order for the pattern to open in a new tab. Happy sewing!

          1. Hi, I Have also just signed up,
and subscribed on the email link. I have allowed pop up’s on my browser,
            and followed the link above.
It still shows me the page to sign up, But there is no link to a pdf anywhere on the page.

          2. Hi Desiree,

That happens when your pop up is enabled. You will need to disable your pop up blocker in order for the pattern to open in a new tab. Happy sewing!

  17. Please could I have some assistance? Every time I try to click on the link to the pattern above, it redirects me to a signup to newsletter page – I am already signed up… However I tried yet again & put in all my details, hoping a download button would appear, yet nothing happened? (No download button & no email sent to me with attachment… nothing!?)
I cannot figure out how to access the actual pattern 🙁 so some help would be really appreciated.

    1. Hi Shanleigh,

Did you receive a confirmation email after you signed up? Please check both your inbox and junk folder.

      1. Yes I did receive such an email, thank you, & also clicked on the “subscription confirmation buttons” originally, but have also done so again…
However the pattern link in the article still takes me to the subscription page instead of the actual pattern?

        1. Hi Shanleigh,

Are you printing from a computer or laptop? If you are, then it may be something with Mailchimp. Let me know how it goes, and I will check with Mailchimp.

  18. Hi, please could you tell me how wide the ribbon for the waistband should be? I know how to work out the length, but not what width of ribbon to use. Thank you, and thank you for a great pattern

      1. Thanks. For the yellow waist band ribbon? Apologies, but I’m confused as with the yellow waistband shown, it’s folded down 1/4” to hide raw edge and still seems quite wide? Sorry – I’m just confused how it looks so wide on the pattern and is only 1/4” or 1/8” wide

        1. Hi Nicola,

I thought you had meant the ribbon for the tags. The waistband is 2 1/2″ wide including 1/4″ seam allowances.

  19. Hi, apologies, the width for the waistband (the yellow band shown on the trousers in the pattern.) I can’t understand that it’s only 1/8” or 1/4” as you have to fold the raw edge in by this much to start with. Unless I’m reading the pattern incorrectly, but it looks much wider on the photos

  20. Thanks for a cute and quick pattern! I’ve made a couple so far and plan to make more before the summer is over. I only wish there was a photo of these on a child, it would be so nice to see how they look while wading through a zillion other patterns. Thank you! 🙂

    1. Hi Andrea,

      Thanks for stopping by!

I love seeing garments on a model too as it helps to better understand how the clothes will really fit. I will be sure to add photos of Miss Madeline in the bloomers soon. She loves to model!

    2. Hi,

Just wondering how to get the pattern once subscribed. I have subscribed, clicked the link and it keeps returning to the picture of the bloomers. Any recommendations? Thanks.

      ~Penny

      1. Hi Penny,

Thank you so much for subscribing! I emailed you the instructions, but here it is just in case you missed it:

Be sure to confirm your email after subscribing. Check both your inbox and junk folder. If you have confirmed your email, but is still taking you back to the Sign Up page, then it is your browser setting. Be sure to have your pop up blocker disabled on your browser so that the pattern can open in a new tab. Also print/download from a laptop or computer as most mobile devices are not optimized for all file types.

        Happy sewing!

    1. These are fun pants to make! But FYI.. make waistband piece wider. I’m making these now and I followed the waistband dimensions but I couldn’t fit three-quarter inch elastic inside – I couldn’t even fit half inch elastic. I even tried to not fold the top edge 1/4 inch and tried to serge the edge instead (not as nice but thought I’d try) but still wouldn’t be able to fit elastic. I just ripped out the waistband I’m going to redo with a much wider waistband piece.

  21. Hi there,

I love how the quarter circle skirts turned out! You look so good in them.

I’m just a bit confused about the pattern – looking at the placement on the fabric I understand where you’ve placed the pattern, but how do you work out the waist measurement?

Looking at the pattern on the fabric, it looks like the skirt will be too short and the waist too large. Does that make sense?

    Thanks so much.
    Kirsten

    1. Hi Kirsten,

Thank you! This is one of my favorite skirt patterns!

Regarding the waist measurement on the template – your waist measurement + 1″~1.5″ (waist ease) = the line you should choose on the template. Then you measurement the desired skirt length from the line you’ve chosen.
My waist is 25″ and I added 1″ for ease so the curved line I choose on the template was 26″. I wanted a midi so I measured 26″ from the 26″ curved line on the template.

I hope that make sense. If you’re still having issues regarding the waist and length measuring steps, please let me know and I will add another image to illustrate this step further.

      Happy Sewing! 🙂

  22. I need two different sizes. A size six and a size three. I am making Apple Jacks and Rainbow Dash for my grandchildren for Halloween.

    1. This pattern goes from 6m to 5T. Size 3T is included, however you may have to grade up for the 6T. Since it is only 1 size up, simply add 1/4″ or so to the 5T or slash and spread to the desired measurements.

  23. hi there. i have signed up & confirmed but i still can’t get the cute kids pants pattern. i so desperately need it. and also, this pattern. you have used woven fabric but cant stretch knit be used too? 35% stretch only 2 way stretch?

    1. Are you viewing/downloading from your smart phone or tablet? I highly recommend viewing/downloading from your computer.

Knit fabric can definitely be used. I have made these pants in both woven and knit fabrics.

      Happy sewing!

          1. I’ve passed it over to tech support and here is what they responded.

“The device she originally signed up on was her tablet. She cannot use the laptop with the same email address. She would need to sign up with a new email from her laptop, confirm the email address, and then download the files.”

Please let me know if you are still having issues.

    1. Are you viewing/printing the pattern from a smart phone or tablet? I highly recommend using a computer to view or print. Happy sewing!

    1. You will need to adjust your printer’s setting to Do Not Scale. Be sure to check the 1″ test square on the first page.

      1. I have this same problem on the sideband page -fold section. I have confirmed the test size – and I don’t have this problem on the adult sizing hat.

My printer settings do not have a Do Not Scale setting, although the “default” setting has worked on all other pdf pattern downloads. I would appreciate being send another pdf print out version.

        1. Hi Gail,

I would need more information from you to help you out. Are you using Adobe Reader to print or printing from your browser? Printing from your internet browser or other PDF readers can result in sizing issues. The Adobe Reader is free to download on the Adobe website. Hope it helps.

  24. Hey Zune! If you’re still active, I’ve signed up for patterns and your newsletter, but both links to the pattern bring up a 404 and the newsletter form. Can you email me the link to the pattern? It looks great!

    1. Hi there! Yes, my blog is still very active. I’ve been travelling and working on more exciting patterns. I also post upcoming patterns (both free and paid) on my Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook and Instagram. More free patterns are coming back to back, so keep an eye out! 🙂

Did you receive a confirmation email? Please check both your inbox and your junk folder. Also, try downloading/printing from a computer as most smart phones and tablets are not optimized for all file types.

Please let me know if you have any more issues with the pattern.

    1. Hi Agi,

This pattern is free for all my subscribers. After signing up for the newsletter, you will receive a confirmation email. After which, you can download/print all the free patterns.

  25. I’m trying to download this pattern for the little girls bell pants…I’m having trouble and was wondering if you could email me the directions or something,,,

    1. Hi Chris,

Are you downloading/printing from a computer or a smart phone/tablet? I highly recommend using a computer as most smart phones and tablets are not optimized for all file types. Please let me know if you are having any more issues.

  26. Hi, just wondering if you could email me the link for the ruffle pants pattern?Every time I click the given “print here” link it just takes me back to the pattern page.

    Thanks so much,
    Rebecca

    1. Hi Rebecca,

Did you receive a confirmation email? Also, are you printing from a computer as most smart phones and tablets are not optimized for all file types. Please let me know if you have any more issues.

    1. Hi Terri,

I just finished drafting a size M which is equivalent to the M 8-10 size from Target. After it is digitized, it will be included in the upcoming Free Patterns.

  27. Hi Zune, thanks for your pattern, Can you put a note on your pattern that the waistband casing is 2 1/2″ wide? Thank you.
I used this pattern as the basis for some shirt sleeves pants. They turned out great thank you. My sleeves were wide and I made the crotch longer to accommodate sizes 2-4 yrs ( the pants get shorter as the child grows,.) I had 2 rows of elastic in the waist as well. Very cool pants. Thanks again.

    1. Hi Haydee,

I’m so glad to hear that they turned out well!

Thank you for letting me know, I just edited the post to include the waistband’s width.

      Happy sewing!

    2. Made these today with a light stretchy knit. They are great! Thank you for sharing the pattern. Growing twin 2 year old girls to keep up with!

    1. Hi Diya,

      You’re so welcome!

Yes, it’s possible to use a woven with no stretch but the child’s head measurement should be at least 1″ smaller than the hat’s measurement for a comfortable fit.

  28. The print pattern link does not work. It will take you to a list of projects. When you find the sweater project, it brings you back to this page. It’s an infinite loop between this page and the other page, but never the a actual pattern. Can you help? Thanks

    1. Hi there!
Have you confirmed your confirmation email? Please check your inbox and your junk folder, then mark the it as a “Safe Sender”.
Also, are you downloading the pattern from a smart phone or a tablet? I highly recommend using a computer as not all mobile devices are not optimized for all file types.
      Hope that helps!

      1. Zune, I am having the same issue on my Mac and I am a confirmed subscriber, I am stuck in the same loop described above.

        1. Hi Gemmell,

Is the pop-up blocker turned off on your internet browser? Then close the browser and revisit the site.

I have noticed that accessing the site from Windows and Mac is a little different. When I use my Windows computer, it is like I’m always logged in as a subscriber – no need to “sign in” every time I want to download a pattern. However, and this may be just a security feature with Mac, I have to put my name and email to “log in/sign in” every time I want to download a pattern on my Mac. Hope that helps.

          Happy sewing!

  29. I subscribed, confirmed my email, am looking via computer not smart phone, and I still do not see a pattern download. When I click on the pattern, it takes me back to the subscription page again.

    1. Hi Becca,
We checked the pants pattern file and it’s working. It may be a problem with Mailchimp so tech support is looking into that. Please let me know if you’re having the same issue with my other pattern downloads.

  30. yes, I tried to see another pattern, same results. when I click the button ‘here’ above where I should be directed to the pattern, it goes to the subscription page. Where do I go from there? I have already subscribed?

    1. Which browser are you using? As certain conditions, security settings or browser cookies, on your computer can prevent you from viewing the PDF files.

  31. Hello I subscribed to your page, but it is not letting me download the Kids pants pattern sizes 6M-5T. How do I go about fixing this issue?

  32. I Currently read through the comments and seen that you already answered my question. The size I need is a 4T-5T pattern. Also I have followed you as well in addition to subscribing. You do amazing patterns. I can’t wait for your next design/tutorial.

  33. I Currently read through the comments and seen that you already answered my question. The size I need is a 4T-5T pattern. Also I have followed you as well in addition to subscribing. You do amazing patterns. I can’t wait for your next design/tutorial!

    1. I’m so glad to hear that and thank you so much! I have an amazing new free pattern coming this month and many more exciting patterns/tutorials as well.

Were you able to print the pattern?

  34. I’ve confirmed the email and still can not access the pattern. I’m really looking forward to using it. Can it be emailed?

    1. Hi Jacque,

Are you downloading/printing from a computer? Most smart phones and tablets are not optimized for all file types so I highly recommend using your computer or laptop to print.

      Happy sewing!

  35. Hi, I have subscribed and had a confirmation email but cannot see the download for these trousers. Please can you email me the free pattern for a 4 year old. Thank you.

      1. Yes, I tried from a pc but had no luck. Tried several times. The trousers are so lovely, I would really like the pattern. Please help! 🙂

        1. Thank you! It is one of my popular patterns and I’ve personally use it all the time to make different variations of it.

As for the pattern file, I’ve just checked and it is in working order. The pattern file will open in a new tab so it will depend on which web browser you are using and how you’ve configured that browser. You will need to go into your browser setting and allow popups in order for the pattern pdf to open in a new tab.

          Hope that helps! 🙂

        2. I’ve tried several times now…After subscribing all I see in your pattern page are ads featuring software downloads but no actual download button for the pattern. Am I missing something?

It’s such a shame, I would really like to make these trousers for my little boy.

          1. Are you on the “Free Patterns” page or on the pants post? If you’re on the Free Patterns page, there is a link under the image that will take you to the pants post. The pants pattern file is under the “Things You Will Need” list on the pants post where it says, “Print Pattern Here”.
I’ve also checked with Mailchimp for your email and everything seems to be in order.

      1. Your finished size for the size 5 says 24″ waist. The pattern piece itself is 12 1/4. So, after sewing the two pieces together with seam allowance, its under 24″. How does this allow for an elastic waistband? Am I missing something?

        1. Is the 1″ test square measuring correctly on your paper? The 5T waist is approximately 12.8″ and includes 3/8″ seam allowances. The waistband is cut separately – the length being whatever the pant’s waist measurement is plus seam allowance to sew it into a loop. Hope that helps!

    1. Yayyy I have the pattern now – the pattern didn’t pop up before but I tried again and it worked. Thank you so much for your help. I just need to decide on some lovely material now! Thanks again and hoping to have some lovely trousers for my little one soon. 🙂

      1. Terrific! I’m very glad to hear it finally worked.

Choosing the fabric is one of my favorite parts! I’d love to see your finished pants so please feel free to post your pictures on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook or tag Sew_Zune on Instagram.

        Happy sewing!

  36. Hello! I’m looking to download this pattern but every time I click the link it brings me to the subscribe screen and I’m not sure why…I’m subscribed and confirmed but it’s still not showing up. Any help would be appreciated! 🙂

      1. Yay! Please feel free to share your finished projects on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook or tag me on Instagram #zunessewingtherapy. I’d love to see your style! 🙂

        1. Hi Noelle,

Thanks for joining my creative journey!

Did you receive a confirmation email? Please check both your inbox and junk folder. After you have confirmed your email, you can download and print out all the free patterns on the site. The pattern file will be showing on a new tab. If it doesn’t, then you will need to change your browser setting.

          Hope that helps! 🙂

  37. You said the elastic is the waistband size minus 2 plus 1/2 inch. Your waistband was 23 inches so how did you get 17 1/2 inches from that!?

    1. The 23″ waistband measurement is taken from the pants (Step 5). The elastic measurement is from the wearer’s waist (Step 13).

    1. Hi Wendy,
This pattern is free to all my subscribers. If you don’t see a confirmation email in your inbox, check your junk folder as it may have gone there.

      Happy sewing!

    1. You’re very welcome!

Please share some pics on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook or tag me on Instagram @sew_zune. I’d love to see your finished project! 🙂

  38. I would really like to try a few of these free patterns for my grand daughter. I signed up, go the email but the patterns are not offered to print anywhere. When I click the ‘print here’ it takes me back to the email sign up.

    What am I doing wrong?

    1. Hi Jill,

The pattern will show up in a new tab. If it isn’t, then you will need to change the setting on your browser to allow for pop-ups on this site.

      Happy sewing!

  39. I feel so bad for you reading all the “how do I download this pattern” messages.

This pattern was just the thing for me to make my son and I matching PJs. Apparently I miscalculated the amount of room to move he needs, though, so I cut open either leg from waist to cuff and added a “color block panel” AKA a 2” x 22” knit panel to give him room to grow.

Really love your site—you’re hilarious! Look forward to sewing with you in the future!

    1. Hi Mariah,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely comment! It really made my day, and also encourages me to keep making and sharing cute little patterns. 🙂

What a cool idea to add the color block panel! I will have to try that idea the next time I sew with that pattern.

      Stay safe and Happy Sewing!

        1. Hi Ashwini,

          Thank you for subscribing!

You will need to turn off the pop-up blocker on your internet browser in order for the pattern to open in a new tab.

          Happy sewing!

    1. Unfortunately, I don’t have a printable template for it. I used a princess seam bodice and paired it with an A-line skirt pattern (lining) and circle skirt (lace).

  40. Thank you looking for kids shorts pattern in stores and almost non existent. My one need is to make these in a small size (5-6) Can you offer any direction into reducing size of pattern to fit my little grand daughters. So look forward to making them. The kids are also going to use bubbles to “paint their matching shirts”. Looking forward to your direction.

    1. Hi Sue!

You’re very welcome! Using bubbles to paint shirts sound so interesting and fun! I will definitely have to look that up.

Regarding sizing, you can use the slash and reduce method to grade down. I also have another free pants pattern which goes up to 5T. It has a finished waist of 24″. The 5T is actually quite similar to the size 5-6 from Target.

Here is the link to the pattern below. I have used this pattern to crop it to different lengths.

      https://zunessewingtherapy.com/kids-pants-with-free-pdf-pattern/

If you have any questions, please contact me any time. Happy Sewing!

  41. I am unsure what “use the slash and reduce method to grade down” is. Can you clarify. I will also look up the pattern you suggested.
I too have RA, and Celiacs, which has really limited my activities away from home. I’ve recently borrowed my daughters sewing machine to make masks.
I read about adding food coloring to bubbles, and letting the kids blow the colored bubbles at clothing for a unique look. Have a couple of white T-shirts for them to try it on.

    1. I just Youtubed bubble painting and what a creative way to paint! Those t-shirts are going to be perfect for summer!

I’m so sorry to hear about your RA and Celiac – it is extremely frustrating not just dealing with the pain but also the stress of being limited in what one can do, even the simple everyday tasks. I am really glad to hear that you are sewing because it is so important to have a stress-relieving hobby to help you relax as well as boost your mental health. Keep sewing and creating beautiful things, Sue! 🙂

Currently, I don’t have a grading tutorial but I have plans to do a blog post about it. It will be a simple tutorial on how to grade a pattern up or down. Meanwhile, here’s a post from Threads Magazine which gives a quick reference:
      https://www.threadsmagazine.com/2008/11/01/quick-reference-for-cut-and-spread-pattern-grading

What are your granddaughters’ waist sizes? I can give you a better technique suggestion if I knew how much you are wanting to reduce.

  42. Hi Zune,
The grand kids stopped by, they have 20″ and 25″ waist, Not sure what inseam I will use, measured to about 3-4″ above knee, and figured about a 4-5″ inseam. May shorten but this will give me some wiggle room! Thanks Sue

    1. Hi Sue,

My daughter also has a 20″ waist so I use the 4T pattern for her which has a finished waist measurement of 23″. For the 25″ waist, I would take the shorts pattern (the one I used for my son), trim around the boxes and overlap each page. There are 6 pages – so overlap the waist pages, overlap the leg pages, and then overlap the leg pages to the waist. I hope that makes sense. If it sounds too confusing, please let me know. I can make a quick short video and post it on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook page.

As for the inseam, it is best to measure from the pants’ crotch.

  43. Hello: I am not able to download pattern. I did subscribe and received confirmation email. I really appreciate getting the pattern.
    Thank you.

    1. Hi Anna,

Thank you for being a subscriber!

Is your pop up blocker on your browser turned off? The pattern will open in a new tab.

      Happy Sewing!

  44. Hi I am from Australia, desperate for a little girl track suit with round neck and hoodie for my granddaughter with ribbing on legs and wrists can you please do one in size 3 tyxxxxx

  45. Very happy of the outcome of my shorts I made from this pattern. Even as beginner it was really easy to follow. Thank you for the free pattern.

  46. Hi! Thank you for all the lovely patterns you have shared. Your bio also made me tear up. I’m a beginner sewer & was browsing for patterns I could try out for my kids. Also, I might also have RA. I’m waiting to see a rheumatologist but the symptoms align with RA.

Thank you for what you do and for sharing your creativity.

    1. Hi Marivic,

I really appreciate you for taking the time to write this lovely comment, it makes it all worth it!

I’m so sorry to hear about your RA symptoms, but keep sewing, do whatever exercise you can to help with the stiffness and pain, and eat healthy. I know some days can tougher than others because of flare ups, but stay strong! 🙂

      Warmest wishes,

      Zune

    1. Hi Ilze,

The free patterns are not emailed. I have it set up to where subscribers can download/print the free patterns at their convenience from the site. If you have any issues viewing the patterns after subscribing, please let me know.

  47. I just made the bloomers and they were very easy to make. Is the Bloomers with matching elastic neck ruffles top available?

    1. Hi there,

The finished garment measures 29.5″ for waist and 31.5″ for hips. As long as the child’s body measurements are about 4″ smaller than the finished garment measurements, and that he/she can comfortably pull the shorts over the hips then no adjustment needs to be made to the pattern. Otherwise, you may need to enlarge the pattern to allow for more ease.

    2. Hi zune!

It’s j Michelle from Facebook! Can you please post a video? My daughter wears a 5t and her waist is about 22 inches. How much am I too overlap?

      1. Hi J Michelle,

It is a bit hard to give the exact measurements since elastics are have different qualities based on the types and brand quality. However, I normally cut about 1-2″ less than the waist and overlap the ends by 1/2″. If I were sewing directly on the elastic, I would reduce the length even more as it stretches during sewing. Another suggestion is to simply wrap the elastic directly on the waist and adjust the length accordingly. I hope that helps and happy sewing! 🙂

  48. Hi, just subscribed & downloaded this pattern to make some summer trousers (Pants in US) for my grandson. He is only 14 months so is still in nappies (Diapers. Have you allowed for this extra bulk?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Denise,

      Great question!

When my daughter was in diapers, I would measure around her hips over the diaper. Then, compare that measurement to the pants’ hip measurement, which is about 2″ above the pants’ crotch. I go for a 2″-4″ difference in the 2 measurements, based on if whether I’m using knit or woven fabric and how fitted I want the pants to look.

Hope that helps. Stay safe and happy sewing!

        1. You’re most welcome!

I’d love to see your finished project, as I’m sure others will as well. So please feel free to share your finished project on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook. Happy sewing!

    1. Yes, it can. Just be sure to measure the child’s head and the pattern’s neck opening so that the head fit comfortably through the garment’s neck opening. When I make this pattern out of woven, I add a slit back closure and button to the pattern’s back neckline.

  49. Hi zune, appreciate if u could advise how to download the print patterns?

I had subscribe to ur page but cannot download the patterns .

    1. Hi Chloe,

This free pattern are available to all my newsletter subscribers. Check your inbox or junk folder for the confirmation email after signing up. Be sure to have your pop up blocker disabled on your browser. Also print from a desktop or laptop, and not a tablet or smart phone. Have fun sewing!

  50. Hello,

I know it has been a long time since you have posted this. However, I am wondering about the pattern. It seems a bit confusing. How would you cut this on fabric. Can you please tell me exactly how you measured this fabric? Thanks!

    1. Hi there,

I noticed that a lot of beginner sewists were getting confused with folding the fabric for cutting circle skirts so I tried something different in tutorial without any folding. The entire skirt pattern is cut with the fabric laid out flat. Step 1’s photo shows the selvage on both sides of the fabric as it is laid flat. The line that you choose on the template will be your waist measurement plus how much ease you want. There is no side seam, only 1 back seam where you will join to make the skirt and also attach your zipper. I added the optional side seam line for larger sizes as they won’t fit on the fabric (depending on the length of skirt) so it can be cut into 2 pieces (front and back). I hope that makes sense. I will add a Youtube tutorial later and include the link here.

  51. Can you maybe post a photo of the pattern assembled? Sorry I’m very new to sewing with patterns and I feel like I’m messing this up lol.

    1. I would stick with the straight stitch because there are curved seams that require clipping into the seam allowance to release the tension. Also, all the raw edges are completely enclosed inside the hat so need to worry about fraying.

    1. Thanks for stopping by!

To resize for a child, I would decrease the desired amount along the crown and all along the band except the band’s fold line. For the brim, decrease the same amount as the band on each of the 2 fold line. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need a visual, and I’ll post a quick picture on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook page.

  52. I want to add a casing for elastic (instead of the ribbon.) How much should I add to the waistband? Has anyone done this? I would like to add elastic to the legs too, like jogging pants. What should I add there?

    1. Add 2.5″ from the waist for 1″ wide elastic band, and 2″ if you are using a 3/4″ wide elastic. Those measurements include a 1/4″ fold along the raw edge like you see in step 10.

The pants include a 3/4″ hem allowance, so instead of the 3/4″ you can add the desired hem allowance to make a casing using similar measurements as above based on the width of the elastic you are using. Hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  53. Awesome! I’m the only cold member of my family. I’ll use your tutorial to make double flannel pajama pants for me. Thank you, Zune!! 🙂

    1. Thanks for the wonderful comment!

P.S. – I’m also the cold member of my family and in every social group as well! 😀

  54. My iron is wearing a 20-year-old cover with disintegrating foam that doesn’t stay wrapped around the board. Thank you for the instructions!

    1. Hi there,

The download link is already included in the tutorial. The pattern is free to all the newsletter subscribers. Did you receive a confirmation email after signing up? Also, be sure to have your pop up blocker turned off on your internet browser in order for the pattern to open in a new tab.

    1. You measure from the waistline. Measure your waist and add 1″-1.5″ ease, the sum of that would be the number you find on the template. If you want your skirt be 25″ long, then you would use a yardstick or a tape measure and measure out 25″ from the chosen line on the template. Hope that helps. Happy sewing!

  55. Hi! Could you tell me how much fabric you needed for the width (to accommodate for the pleats)? It’s not clear to me how much fabric I need to purchase. Thank you!

    1. Hi CC,

6″ of fabric is needed to make one pleat which is 2″ wide. So for example, a 30″ waist will need at least 15 pleats so that’s 90″ of fabric needed. You will also need to factor in the length of the skirt as well. But keep in mind the extra fabric you will need for seams. I hope that helps.

  56. I am excited to sew these lined pants for my 4 year old daughter! I am worried about your notes about the crotch – when you say make it longer, does that mean adding two inches of height to the pants above the crotch – in a sense, making the pants two inches longer overall? Thank you ☺️

  57. Hi Zune
I am so happy to have found you! I would love the 5T pants pattern.
I look forward to making more for the kids now.

    1. I’m so glad to hear that, Hayley! Please feel free to share your finished project on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook, I’d love to see it.

  58. I did change the print to do not scale and the test square comes out 3/4″ The only way to get it to 1″ is to print to scale. And the ear flap portion is cut off. Any suggestions to print this pattern to correct size?

    1. Hi Karen,
It could be a few things…Are you using Adobe Adobe Reader to print? Printing from your internet browser or other PDF readers can result in sizing issues. It could also be because of printer and/or printer driver you are using. Try adjusting the setting to “Actual Size/Scale 100%”. Also, try unchecking ‘Choose paper source by PDF page size’. Hope it helps.

        1. Hi Vanessa,

You should be receiving a confirmation email. Please check both your inbox and junk folder. Be sure to turn off the pop up blocker on your internet in order for the pattern to open in a new tab.

  59. I downloaded the ruffle pants pattern but where is the rectangle for ruffles to cut that out? I don’t know what size I need to cut for the ruffles.

    1. The pants pattern is basic. The tutorial shows you how to create ruffle pants using that basic pants pattern. The length of the rectangle will depend on where you decide to crop the pants. Just double that measurement and add seam allowance to each end. Hope that helps.

  60. Hi, I’ve signed up to your newsletter and received the email to confirm. However, I still can’t see how to download patterns. Please could you advise, thanks

    1. After you have confirmed your email, you can start clicking on the pattern links under each “Supply” list of the tutorials. Be sure to have your pop up blocker on your internet browser turned off in order for the pattern to open in a new tab. Happy sewing!

  61. I can’t download the pattern. I’ve confirmed my email and I’m on my laptop. When I click on download HERE it takes me back to the page to sign up. Any help is very appreciated.

    1. Hi Angela,

That happens due to the pop up blocker on your browser. Be sure to turn the pop up blocker on your internet browser off in order for the pattern to open in a new tab.

    1. Hi Lynne,

Thank you for subscribing to my little blog! I’d love to see your creation so please feel free to share your makes on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook page. Happy sewing!

      1. Hi Ruth,

Thank you for being a subscriber!
Is the pop up blocker on your internet browser turned off? The pattern cannot open in a new tab if the pop up is blocked, so please be sure to check your browser settings.

  62. Thanks for the fun and easy pattern! I upcycled one of my husband’s old sweatshirts into the most adorable sweatshirt for my 3 year old grandson. I even utilised the old waistband ribbing for both the wrists and shirt bottom. It’ll feel like one of Papa’s hugs, each time he wears it.

    1. Hi Carol-Anne,

That is too adorable! I bet he looks super cute and is enjoying those warm hugs from Papa when he wears it. Love it!

    1. I usually just cut a bit more than I need, sew, and clip the binding off at the end of the seam. About 40″ for both armholes and 20″ for the neck should be enough.

      1. Bonjour, j’ai réglé mon imprimante mais le format n’est pas bon comment régler pour avoir le patron à la bonne échelle ? Merci

        1. Hi there,
It sounds like a printer setting issue – select “Scale 100%” or “Actual Size” and not “Scale to Fit”. I use Adobe Reader to print my PDF patterns accurately. If you’re still having printing issues, email me a screenshot of your printer setting.

  63. Hello, Im trying to figure out how to download the pattern to print. I’m using a computer but I don’t see any print feature

    1. Did you sign up for the Newsletter and confirm your email? Be sure to turn off the pop up blocker in order for the pattern to open in a new window.

    1. I just checked the link for the flower template and it has been working. The template is available to all the newsletter subscribers. Did you sign up and then confirmed your emailed? Let me know if you have any trouble signing up.

    1. Hi Tammy,

I’m so glad to hear you want to learn to sew as it’s a really beneficial hobby. A lot of my tutorials have a Youtube video as well. If you get stuck on any steps, you can always message on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook.

  64. Hello Zune,
I have just joined your sewing group and have downloaded and printed my pattern for the kids pants.

My question is: Should this pattern be printed in landscape or portrait.
I have printed 8 pages of pattern but page 4 has some of the printed pattern lines missing on my A4 portrait print.

Should the entire pattern be printed in Landscape, and will the pattern keep its’ sizing correct if it is.

    1. Hi Carol,

For page orientation, are you able to select “Auto Rotate” on your printer setting? Also, are you printing from the internet browser or from Adobe Reader? Printing from the browser preview can cause the pattern to print incorrectly. I highly recommend using Adobe Reader – it is free to download from the Adobe website and you will be able to print accurately. Happy sewing!

  65. Good Evening

I have tried to download the pants pattern as a friend would like for me to sew a pair for her son. Usually, it says page can not be found. I tried to sign up, but have received no confirmation mail as of yet.

I have used your bloomers pattern to make shorts for my granddaughter and it worked wonderfully.

Thank you for your work and for sharing with those of us who have just begun sewing.

    Cindy
    cindylou.suter@gmail.com

    1. Hi Cindy,

I’m so glad to hear that the bloomers worked out! For the confirmation email, be sure to check your junk folder as well and look for zune@zunessewingtherapy.com. Mark it as safe sender. If you have any questions, please let me know! You can also reach out to me any time at the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook page. Happy sewing!

  66. Hi, thank you for the great pattern! I’m looking into purchasing some flannel and I wanted to know how much fabric I would need for a size 4T?

    1. Hi Katy,

You’re welcome, thank you for reading!

For a size 4T, 3/4 yards should be more than enough if the fabric has already been pre-shrunk. If not, I would get 1 yard and then pre-wash it to avoid shrinkage later. Hope that helps.

  67. I’ve subscribed to the newsletter, but it’s not letting me download the pattern. (I am viewing it on a laptop, I clicked the confirmation email, I did all that multiple times, but it’s not letting me download the pattern.

    1. Does it take you back to the sign up page when you click to download the pattern? If it is, you will need to turn off the pop up blocker on your internet browser. Hope that helps!

  68. How should I adjust the opening if I wanted to make it for a large male? Your instructions look pretty easy! Thanks for making it so detailed!

    1. I’m so glad to hear that! For adjusting the opening, are you increasing the size of the scarf? In that case, I think 1/2″-1″ should be alright.

    2. Well shoot! I meant if I increased the length of the scarf where should the opening be? Still 5 inches from the bottom of the scarf? Thanks for your prompt response!

  69. I love this and want to make matching ties for my 3 boys. However, the link to the pattern to take me to a page to sign up for your newsletters. I signed up, but I still can’t seem to the printable file. Can you please help? Thanks!

    1. Thank you so much! My son loves to wear this kind of tie as it is easy for him to put on by himself.

As for the pattern, did you receive a confirmation email? If you have, then be sure to turn off the pop up blocker on your internet browser so that the pattern can open in a new tab.

  70. Hi there, I tried signing up for your letter to be able to see the toddler reversible fleece hat, however even after confirming my singing up for your news letter, it is still just bringing me right back to the signing up page.

    1. It does that due to your browser setting. You will need to turn off the pop up blocker on your internet browser in order for the pattern to open in a new tab. Happy sewing!

  71. Hi Zune
Thank you for the free pattern! I am going to try it tomorrow..
I have one question: why is the back pattern longer than the front pattern? I am sure I printed and glued the pattern correctly…

    1. You’re most welcome!
Which part of the back pattern is longer? Did you mean the body length from high-point-shoulder to hem?

      1. Hi Dawn! I am actually wearing the hat in the image. The one I made for my son may appear smaller due to the camera angle. For a one year, you can certainly trim around the edges of all the hat pattern pieces to make it smaller. Hope that helps!

  72. I have been looking for exactly this style of pattern and tutorial for so long. It is perfect and the instructions wonderfully clear and concise. Thank you so much ! Very happy and inspired 🙂

  73. I have been looking for exactly this style of pattern and tutorial for so long. It is perfect and the instructions wonderfully clear and concise. Thank you so much for sharing this ! Very happy and appreciative 🙂

  74. Hi there! An anyone tell me approximately how much fabric you need for a 2 or 3T sweater with this pattern? Wondering if what I have at home is enough before I start printing.
    Thank you!!

    1. 3/4 yard should be more than enough for the 2T-3T. You may need more if you are matching stripes or patterns. Happy sewing!

  75. Hello Zune,

This pattern is gorgoeus! I have just signes up and got the pattern. I have aquestion, if i need to make the shorts for 6 years old, how much do i need to add. I’m totally new :). Thank you!

    1. Hi Tran,

Thank you! It is one of my favorite patterns. What is your child’s waist measurement? The finished waist for this pattern is 23.25″. If you’re using the slash and spread method to size up, I wouldn’t suggest spreading a total of more than 1″. However you can grade up by about 1/4″ size by size until you get to your desired size.
Grading a pattern can be a bit tricky. My daughter is now actually wearing a size 5/6, so I’ll be posting more age 5-6 sizes this summer.

  76. Your kids trousers/shorts patterns look simple and easy to follow. Can’t wait to be signed up so that I can access the patterns and make loads of them for my grandson!!
    Fi

    1. Thank you so much and welcome to my little blog, Fiona! Once I can get my schedule back on track, I plan to add more cute patterns to the library. So, stay tune! 🙂

  77. Hi! Thanks for this terrific pattern. I have made waterproof trousers for my grandson who is 18 months old and just discovered stomping in puddles! I had to amend it a fair bit because it needs to go over warm clothes, and he is quite short, I added an elastic drawstring waist and put Velcro on the legs to tighten them and keep them dry. Thank you!

  78. Thank you for the pattern, wondering is the original size of the pattern is adult size? I want to make me one and my grandkids!

    1. You’re very welcome!

It’s a little embarrassing, but my son and I wear the same size hat. I have a small head. However, you can certainly size up or down by adding or trimming down the edge of all the hat pattern pieces.

  79. I love this, I subscribed but unfortunately the pattern link doesn’t work for me. It takes me to a subscription page and I already subscribed. Is there another link to the pattern?

    1. Hi Lola,
      Thank you for subscribing!
The subscription page loop happens due to your browser setting so you will need to go to your internet browser setting and turn off the pop up blocker. This will allow the pattern to open in a new tab. Happy sewing! 🙂

  80. Would i be able to make this out of old tshirts? Or say shirts (adult size) that aren’t worn anymore? Making it 2T size.

    1. You sure can! I use these patterns to upcycle adult size t-shirts to make play clothes for both my son and daughter.

  81. i need help to get the free pattern, it told me to sing up and i did but i did not get any thing. plzs do help me.

    1. Hi there,
Did you check both your inbox and junk folder for the confirmation email after signing up? If you have confirmed your email, but is stuck in the sign-up look then it is your browser setting. Be sure to turn off the pop up blocker on your internet browser in order for the pattern to open in a new tab.

      1. I’m an adult but I’m short and skinny (5’3 100 lbs). I normally wear a kids large, but would these shorts fit? My waist is 23.5”, hips are 31”. I literally have the body of a child even though I’m 29 lol. I wear kids clothes often and would love to print out this pattern if you think it’ll fit!

        1. Hi Super Skinny Girl,

No judgment from me, gorgeous! I believe ALL body shapes and sizes are beautiful! 🙂 The shorts have a finished hip measurement of about 38″. Perhaps, you could make a toile, or test garment, out of a cheaper fabric that is similar to the final fabric you want to use. That way you can see how it would fit you and make changes according to your taste. I like making wearable toiles, they make pretty good loungewear. 😉

    1. Hello sewing friend! I’d love to see your finished project, you can share your fabulous creation on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook for us to admire. 🙂

  82. I subscribed to your news letter to receive the PDF for the baby bloomers and when I click on the “pattern here”…I am directed back to your news letter sign up page again.

    1. Hi Teresa,

The free patterns are not emailed. I have them set up so that subscribers can easily download whichever pattern that they like at their own convenience. Did you receive a confirmation after signing up? Be sure to check both your inbox and junk folder. Also turn off your pop up blocker on your internet browser so that the pattern can open in a new tab. Lastly, download from desktop or laptop computer and not from a mobile device. Hope that helps!

    1. Hi Kathy,

Thank you for stopping by! It’s taking a bit longer than I’d like to post new free patterns with my new schedule, but one is currently in the works. Hope you will like it!

  83. I really like your bucket hat and would like to try to make one. Could you please send me the pattern for it. Thanks

I have had RA since I was 29. I am 65. Sewing is therapy!

    1. Hi Michelle,
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment! It totally made my day!!

I’m so glad to hear from a fellow RA warrior with a sewing passion. Stay strong and keep sewing! 🙂

  86. I downloaded the Bloomers with matching elastic neck ruffles top, but am not able to find the instructions/tutorial for the top.

  87. I like this style skirt a lot. I am a beginner and have arthritis/RA. Can you show me how to make this skirt with flat waist band and elastic in the back.

    1. Hi Lupe,

I’m so glad to hear from a fellow sewing enthusiast who also has RA. I will be sure to add that to add the flat front waist and elastic band to my tutorial plans for the future. Meanwhile, stay strong and keep sewing! 🙂

  88. Hello Zune! Thank you so much for this easy pattern. One question, on the pattern I read 3/8″, does it mean the allowance is included in the pattern, if not it means the allowance must be added before cutting. As for the waist do I need to add an allowance or not !?
    Looking forward…for your help

    1. Hi Claudon,

The 3/8″ seam is included in the inseam and outseam. The waist includes a 1/4″ seam allowance. Happy sewing!

  89. Hi! I’m so excited to whip these up for my friend’s 18 mo girl/boy twins. I’m looking for how much fabric to buy but I can’t find a reference. I’ve read the 3 years of comments and no one has mentioned this so I just must be missing it. I’m sorry if this is right in front of me but…Help please.

    1. Hi Joan,

3/4 of a yard should be more than enough for a size 18m. Be sure to preshrink the fabric before cutting and sewing.

  90. Your bucket hat is so nice. I have a question, where I live it can get VERY hot in the summer (110, 115, 120 degrees some days), so I would need some airflow to keep as cool as possible. Would it work to make the band and crown out of mesh fabric???

Thanks for your help and advice in advance!

    1. Wow, that is pretty hot! I think the mesh is a great idea!! Are you making the band and the crown entirely out of mesh? I take a lot of photosensitive medication due to my RA, so I burn very easily. Personally, I would add the mesh as design insets. If you do make the sun hat, please share a picture on the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook page. I’d love to see your beautiful creation! 🙂

  91. There seems to be confusion about which which brim the interfacing goes on….you say attach the interfacing to the self brim but later say to put the interfacing brim on top of the self brim….

    1. Hi Tamara,

Good catch! I’ve added some clarification to Step 4 which includes a sew-in interfacing. The note with asterisks under Step 2’s photo is for if you’re using an iron on interfacing.

  92. Hi there, I recently found you a few weeks ago and am thrilled with what you provide. Your directions seem very clear. I have not made anything yet, but I printed my patterns today.

I am looking forward to making things for my granddaughter who is 3 years old and my nephew who is 5 years old, especially the tie for him.

Thank you for all you do out of the kindness of your heart.

I wish you all the best!

    Lynette

    1. Hi Lynette,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful comment! It totally made my day!! I love drafting patterns and I put a lot of love and care into each one, so I’m always ecstatic to hear that my little babies are bringing joy to others as well.

More cute patterns to come! 🙂

      Love,

      Zune

  93. Hello!
Your model is a boy. Would these shorts work for a little girl as well? She wears a size M in Target clothes (for girls that’s 7-8) but she’s about to move to L (girls 10-12, so 10 eould be perfect for her).

    1. Hi Madalyn,

These shorts are unisex, so they should work well for both boys and girls. If she is just about to move to girls’ size L(10-12), these may be a little loose on her at first. However, she will have room to grow into. I recommend making the shorts along with the tutorial and see how they fit her. You can always make them more fitted by widening the seam allowance of the inseam and crotch by 1/2″-5/8″. Happy sewing!

    1. Hi Janelle,

      Thanks for being a subscriber!
Yes, that happens due to your browser setting – you will need to turn off the pop blocker on your internet browser setting so that the pattern can open in a new tab.
      Happy sewing!

    1. You’re very welcome! 🙂
You can share your finished project at the Zune’s Sewing Therapy Facebook page, I’d love to see your beautiful creation!

    1. About 3/4 of a yard should be enough. I did not use a specific elastic measurement for the neck as I had adjusted based on my preference of how wide I wanted the neck to be.

  94. Hi there,

The patterns in the Pattern Shop are paid patterns. This skirt pattern is releasing tonight and will be on sale this weekend. Happy sewing!

  95. Hi Amy,
Thank you so much for your kind words! This size chart is my baby – I researched, worked and reworked on it for several months. I had gotten lots of comments from sewists expressing their frustration over the limited sizes available to them out there. So keeping them in mind, my ultimate goal was to try and be as size-inclusive as possible. Your comment truly made my day!

    Stay safe and happy sewing!
